The Adam LamBert AMA's Kiss Performace

Adam Lambert kissed a male musician while performing live at the American Music Awards. Since then its been a uproar about what he has done. He was banned from performing on the New Years Eve ball, as well as all his live appearance were cancelled. Many feel that GLAAD (Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation-the medias based gay advocates) didn't properly represent Lanbert the right way. GlAAD posted on their website www.GLAAD.org that they are doing the best they can by reaching out to ABC. They stated how they've asked the reason why Adam was cruelly punished and working on ways of Lambert's appearance back. Adam spoke to Rolling Stones magazine about the issue and states "We’re in 2009; it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.”

Another thing he mentioned that stuck to me the most is “I didn't do anything female performers haven’t done on television already.” It is so true, Britney Spears and Madonna's televised kiss on the VMA's in 2003 was the highlight of the VMA's. It was the talk of the media for days and weeks but there was no punishment to come of it. I'm guessing for the fact the Britney and Madonna kiss was rehearsed several times that's the reason why they didn't feel the same pain Adam is. The double standard is very much unfair. The media is corrupted it's OK for half naked provocative looking women to prance across a stage and deliver music but a performer as unconventional as Adam lambert is cant kiss a man on national TV? The media's acceptability needs to be broaden. Adam appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show speaking on the AMA Controversy.
