Gay Rappers?

I learned something new today which i happen to stumble upon. While looking for a rap song i happen to see a link that said "is hiphop ready for a gay rapper?" it was a newsweek article from 2001http://www.newsweek.com/id/78963
The article speaks about an openly gay male who had hopes on being the first openly gay rapper. Caushun (pronounced caution)is a african american male deriving from Brooklyn, New York. He had his mind set out to be recognized not only for his lyrical performance but letting it be known that it is ok to be a openly gay american in the music world today. He feels that there is a misreprensentation of gays in the musiv/rap industry. For the fact there are none, it has been stories that have lingered about so called "homo thugs" which are men who pose as the straight masculine tough guy from the "hood" but on the low is really gay. The main reason why it is harder for gays to get into the music medium is the dominated abundance of rappers who use the word "faggot" insensitively, it causes homosexuals fear.
Another aspiring rapper is Bry'Nt, who also goes by the GAY rapper. Bry'nt is a native of Hartford, Connecticut rapper who has been rapping since his teen years. He never really openly came out the closet to his friends or family the proper way. Bry'nt felt the only person that deserved to know the truth was his mother, everyone else didn't really matter. Bry'Nt acts as am advocate to the LGBT community, spreading the awareness of safe sex, equality, and just being yourself. It is a known fact that there aren't any openly gay male rappers in the music industry. If there are any homosexual rappers they dont let it be known because men are supposed to be masculine and show power.It is a fact that a lesbian rapper would be accepted easier then a man. Alot of men think women on woman action is sexy,which i can't understand what is the difference. Homophobia is another reason why some homosexuals don't come out the closet because they fear others wil turn against them once knowing. I feel it is lack of knowledge that make people scared or homophobic.

I sat and researched homosexual rappers and there are alot of them that have alot of talent. They gear their music toward the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and transexual community but don't have a problem with heterosexual listening to it. Songs i've listened to are really explict but i really can't even say that because alot of straight rappers can be even more elusive than that. Here are a few songs from underground rappers who are openly gay trying to get into the music business.






Truthfully after listening to alot of these songs as well as reading about gay rappers striving to get into the music media, i feel differently. I never had a problem with homosexuals but i guess i could say i might have been part of stereotyping. I never thought a gay could be a rapper, not saying they couldnt be as talented but it's just not something you hear about. I love the gay community but it sounded weird to me at first. Now i realize the redicle and struggle they go through and completely support the rise of gay rappers.
