World Aids Day...Is A.I.D.S a GAY disease?

Since today is AIDS awareness day i figure i speak on it. A common asked question that links being gay and AIDS together is, Is AIDS a GAY disease? And the answer is NO! No indeed AIDS is not a "GAY" disease. Pure ignorance and misinformation stirs this myth. Any and everyone can contract the HIV or AIDS virus if they are not careful. Often people feel because many homosexuals are openly promiscuous they are the ones who created this disease and caused it to spread. Unprotected sex;whether oral or anal, blood transfusions,breast milk, and sharing needles is the easiest way to become a victim of HIV/AIDS.
People stereotype AIDS as a GAY disease because it was first recognized among gay men. But in fact it became recognizable among others in society not apart of the Gay community but those who weren't practicing safe sex having multiple partners as well as those who had drug abuse issues. At this current moment AIDS is at an all time high in the African American and Latino communities and gay men. Out of all 3,it is young people as a whole who are contracting the disease.
The LGBT community is very much involved in increasing awareness and educating others about protecting yourself. There have been studies stating that there are more homosexual men living with either HIV or AIDS than a lesbian. It is said that it is higher due to the fact men what to experience more than one partner. But in my opinion why not be safe about it? if you know your not in a monogamous relationship at least think about your own health.

The black stripe on the flag came from a Sargent who served in the Vietnam war. He himself had the disease and he said once a cure was found for HIV/AIDS then the black stripe could be removed. Today many homosexuals who live with the HIV/AIDS virus sport that flag as awareness so others know they are a gay American living with it.
